19 Feb 2024: Announcing the merger of Molonglo Muslim groups to form a United Molonglo Muslims Association Inc (UMMA)
We are thrilled to share with you a significant milestone. After careful consideration and thorough discussions, we have decided to merge and form United Molonglo Muslim Association (UMMA), a move that marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Molonglo, Weston and Canberra Muslim community.
This decision has been made with unanimous support from both groups and is aligned with the Islamic principles of unity, respect, tolerance, inclusiveness, and diversity.
Why We Are Merging
The decision to merge is driven by our shared mission to “serving with love and compassion to build a harmonious community, empowering individuals, strengthening families, and contributing positively to society. By combining our strengths, we are poised to achieve more together than we could separately. This merger will allow us to fulfill our objectives:
Our commitment to our community remains our top priority. As we integrate our operations, we are focused on ensuring a seamless transition and continued excellence in service delivery. Here are a few key points about what this means for you:
- Alhamd Coombs Mussalah: All daily prayers at a single place.
- Molonglo Valley Musallah at Denman Village Community Centre will be closed and merged with Alhamd Coombs Mussalah. Mussalah Adress: 1 Annabelle View Coombs.
- Unified Jumaa: Unified Jumaa at Coombs Community Centre starting from 23rd February 2024.
- Taraweeh prayers: Single Unified Taraweeh prayers at Coombs Community Centre.
- Islamic studies/dawah and youth activities: Single Unified Islamic studies/dawah and youth activities
- Unified messaging: Single WhatsApp group for awareness and information sharing related to Islamic activities in the Molonglo region.
